Privacy Policy

1. What information we collect

1.1 Account information

When you create an account through Google Sign-In, we collect your name, email address, and profile photo as provided by Google.

1.2 Usage data

We record aggregated usage metrics: recording minutes consumed per period, number of translation tokens used, and your active plan. This information is necessary for quota management and billing.

1.3 Audio and transcription data

Audio captured by Eco is transmitted in encrypted form to our AI processing providers for transcription. We do not store or have access to audio recordings. Transcriptions and translations are processed in real time and displayed locally on your device. We do not retain transcribed or translated content on our servers.

1.4 Technical data

We may log anonymous error and technical data (app version, error codes, operating system) to improve application stability.

2. How we use your information

• To provide, maintain, and improve the service.
• To manage your account, subscription, and usage quota.
• To send transactional emails related to your account (payment receipts, quota notifications).
• To detect and prevent fraud or service abuse.
• To comply with applicable legal obligations.

We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for advertising purposes.

3. Legal basis for processing (EU/EEA users)

If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, we process your data under the following GDPR legal bases:

• Performance of contract: to provide the service you have subscribed to.
• Legitimate interest: to improve the security and stability of the service.
• Legal obligation: when required by applicable law.

4. Data sharing with third parties

4.1 AI transcription provider

Audio data is sent to our transcription provider for real-time processing. The provider does not retain audio recordings beyond the time needed to generate the transcription.

4.2 AI translation provider

Transcribed text is sent to our translation provider. The provider processes text under its own privacy terms and does not use it to train models without explicit consent.

4.3 Supabase

Supabase, Inc. provides our database and authentication infrastructure. Account and usage data is stored on Supabase servers in the us-east-1 (AWS) region.

4.4 Paddle

Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd., acting as Merchant of Record. Paddle collects and processes payment data (name, address, card or payment method information). See Paddle's privacy policy for details.

4.5 Google

We use Google OAuth for authentication. Google may process data according to its own policies when you sign in.

5. International data transfers

Your data may be processed on servers located outside Chile, including the United States. For EU/EEA users, these transfers are made under appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent certifications).

6. Data retention

We retain your account data while you maintain an active account. Usage data is kept for a maximum of 13 months for analytics and billing purposes. You may request account deletion at any time by writing to hello@ecotranslate.app.

7. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
• Request data portability.
• Object to the processing of your data.
• Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing).

8. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data: encryption in transit (TLS), short-lived authentication tokens, and role-based access control. However, no security system is infallible.

9. Minors

Eco is not directed to persons under 13 years of age. If you become aware that a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us to have it removed.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through an in-app notice. Continued use of the service after notification implies acceptance of the changes.
